RELATIONSHIP REPAIR
Step-by-Step Part 4: "Seven Steps"
By now, you might be saying, "Okay, Branch, give me the seven steps already!" Well, here they are:
1. Recognize that harm has been committed.
2. Take Responsibility for the act or actions.
3. Have Remorse for what was said or done.
4. Feel Regret for what happened.
5. Make Redress (correction) for what happened.
6. Assurance that Repetition will not occur in the future.
7. Repentance is that changed future behavior.
Here you have it: seven steps you can start using today to repair any damaged relationship at home or at work. However, there’s an important point to consider. Each step may be influenced by how the person who caused the harm perceives inappropriate behavior. Their perspective could be shaped by childhood experiences or upbringing. This is why being aware of ‘red flags’ is crucial.
