What exactly is prophecy? Simply stated, prophecies are God's promises and warnings for his children about the coming ‘End Times & Last Days.’ Those of every age with faith regarding God’s plan for humanity on its path of spiritual redemption read prophecy as events that serve as a final reminder of our ‘global last gasp’ before spiritual redemption and reconciliation.
No matter when death may occur, today, tomorrow, before, during, or within the coming ‘Last Days’ prophecy is both a reminder and a road map of critical opportunities to prepare for the remainder of this life and to be mindfully prepared for a ‘life hereafter.’
Let’s begin by looking specifically at prophecies. There are 1,817 prophetic promises and warnings foretold by different prophets and biblical authors throughout the Bible. There are 31,382 verses in the Bible. Within those verses, 1,817 specific Bible prophecies are shared. Fully one-quarter of the Bible is prophetic. The key takeaway to keep in mind is that every prophecy that has happened has come to pass exactly as foretold.
Let that fact sink in. Every one of the 1,817 prophecies foretold that has already occurred over the last four thousand years happened precisely as foretold or predicted. How remarkable is this? Amazing.
Since the Bible is about one person, Jesus Christ, what are the odds of all these predictions? Over thousands of years? Well, consider this. The chance of only eight (8) of these 1,817 different prophecies coming true about one person is 1x10 to 17th pwr. How significant is that number? It’s one (1) followed by eighteen (18) zeros. Think of it this way. If every single number were a silver dollar, they would cover the state of Texas in silver dollars three (3) feet deep. The chance of only eight of these coming true for one person would be like finding one silver dollar with an ‘X’ in that pile.
Why are these odds so poignant? Every one of the 1,817 prophecies that have occurred up until today has happened exactly as foretold. If there is no reason to believe or put credence in the Bible’s veracity, this alone should be enough to consider at least what God’s Word is trying to share through prophecy.
I’m sure you’ve put together a puzzle at one time or another. Prophecy is like a puzzle with 1,817 pieces scattered before us. People who enjoy puzzles often put together smaller cohesive sections first. Sections that will eventually fit as parts of the bigger picture. By assembling smaller sections of a larger image, parts within the bigger picture start to come into view so the overall picture can better be revealed.
Prophecy reveals each smaller section that helps make up part of a larger picture as each section becomes more recognizable. As we begin to assemble pieces of prophecy’s puzzle, its entire image starts to come into sharper view. Understanding prophecy makes the indistinguishable clearer as we find links between related events.
You don’t need to know the Bible to understand prophecy, but it helps to know prophecy if you want to know what the Bible says about the future. Prophecy shows how to recognize what is unfolding before our eyes today, that will be part of this larger future picture.
Prophecy is an opportunity to see today's events in our daily news cycles that point directly to what God has planned, proposed, and is sharing with us about our impending future. Events He has prepared as our world continues its path of self-destruction.
By following and embracing the ‘little god of self,’ each of us is consumed by desires, lies, and fabrications the world uses to confuse our minds or influence our lives. The vast majority of people alive today will not be prepared. Yet God’s love for you is so great that He wants you to know what to expect, what will happen, and why.
Most people will refuse to hear or act. They will refuse to believe or consider the possibilities of prophecy even as they witness these events firsthand in their own lives, with their own eyes. By refusing to see, many will suffer.
God never intended his word to be challenging to understand. He makes his desires known in the simplest of ways. He wants to assure you that you will not be afraid. He has remembered you and is revealing these warning signs to benefit you and your family. The whole point of prophecy is to prepare for what is to come in the future so we can start our spiritual walk today.
