Negative outcome-producing thoughts have the power to satisfy an immediate need or want. However, in that place, they often fail to fulfill or move us forward in our long-term goals, dreams, or aspirations. Negative outcome-producing responses or actions are roadblocks to future ambitions. Why? The more power we give them, the more they can delay or derail future goal attainment.
‘Manifesting’ is making your future reality a reality you choose to experience. This is why manifesting is often a ‘big picture’ or ‘future change’ exercise that works best for long-term goals. In the short term, there can be too many mental distractions, obstacles, or stumbling blocks as daily life gets in the way. If we constantly act, react, or interact with spur-of-the-moment ideas or desires, they may dilute, alter, or ‘tweak’ our focus. So, what’s missing?
Think about someone you admire in any endeavor, industry, sports, commerce, entertainment, or entrepreneurship. Someone at the top of their profession or game. How did they get there?
Practice, Practice, Practice. They developed a skill set or honed a talent by focusing their time and energy on furthering that specific skill or talent.
Pick a favorite professional sports star, business leader, or entertainer. They spend almost every hour of every day practicing and perfecting their skill. They practice when they’re awake. They think and mentally practice when they’re resting and often when they’re sleeping. And when they reach the top, what happens? They continue that devotion of time and energy to stay on top.
This is why the journey to the top and staying there can be arduous. The truth is that only relatively few have the character and drive to attain this level in any given arena. It takes consistent dedication, passion, time, and energy, often to the exclusion of all other people or endeavors.
Success at this level can become all-consuming. That’s why many operating at this career altitude often succumb to pressures and temptations of escape mechanisms. They may convince themselves they’ve missed out on much of what life offers others while they are singularly focused on their path to success.
There are two sides to every coin—Yin and Yang. Keeping balance is unattainable for most people and precarious at best for the rest. Why? Success in careers or relationships takes time, energy, and effort.
Manifesting brings to fruition what we focus and concentrate on mentally and then apply through actions with intent and consistency to make it our future reality. But what’s missing in this equation? We have a dream, a goal, a future desire we want to manifest by mentally visualizing it as already happening, right? I see myself in a specific situation, mentally experiencing my future actions and responses.
Let me give you an example. If you’ve ever gone through a relationship break-up, there often comes a time when you’re about to reunite to discuss the current situation or any possible future. Before the meet-up, you review the entire conversation as you hope it will go. You say this. He or she says that. You respond. He/she responds, and you run through the entire scene or play out the whole conversation in your mind.
Manifesting is similar. We identify specifics that would be a natural outcome or extension of who we are now, in accordance with our dream or goal, and therefore, who we can be, desire to be, or will be in the future.
Manifesting is mentally preparing yourself to live your life of the future by knowing who you are now.
Shaped by your current actions and responses, the choices you make now will determine the future you envision in your mind. But what is missing? I’ve asked this question three times, so, what is missing?
